§ 13-7. Abandoned motor vehicle.

  • (a)

    Definitions. for the purposes of this section, the following terms have the respective meanings as shown herein, except in those instances where the context clearly indicates otherwise:

    (1)

    Junked, wrecked, or used automobiles or motor vehicles shall mean any motor vehicle or parts thereof which is totally inoperative and is so damaged or dismantled as to be a total loss. the term "total loss" shall mean that the cost to repair a damaged or dismantled motor vehicle exceed the junk value of said vehicle.

    (2)

    Person shall mean any individual or combination of individuals, whether male or female, and whether acting for any other person, and shall further mean any entity including any partnership or corporation or other thing recognized under Louisiana law.

    (b)

    Abandoning prohibited. It shall be unlawful for any person to abandon or dispose of any junk, wrecked or used automobile or motor vehicle, or any part or parts thereof in any publicly operated dumping ground or sanitary landfill located in Webster Parish, Louisiana.

    (c)

    Separate offense. Each abandonment or disposal of any junk, wrecked, or used automobile, or any part or parts thereof, made or done in violation of this section shall constitute a separate offense.

    (d)

    Penalty. Any person found guilty of violating this section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be sentenced to pay a fine of one hundred dollars ($100.00) or imprisoned for not more than thirty (30) days, or both.
