§ 2-40. Same—Participation in rehabilitation program without loss of job or status.

  • After the effective date of this section any employee of the Webster Parish Police Jury who freely and willingly communicates to his supervisor, within ninety (90) days, the fact that he currently has an alcohol or substance abuse problem will be eligible to participate in an alcohol or substance abuse rehabilitation program without loss of job or status. (Webster Parish Police Jury hospitalization coverage treats chemical dependency as any other illness, if treated in an approved hospital.) Such employee will be allowed to enter such facility for up to thirty (30) days. Employees will accrue sick leave and/or vacation leave during this thirty days. The employee will not be paid for any additional time necessary for completion of the required treatment, but may return to work at his original salary and position upon completion of the required treatment program. After the ninety-day period after effective date of this section, any employee who is unable to work because of participation in an alcohol and/or drug abuse rehabilitation program will report sick leave for participation in the program. Determination of his job status, his use of vacation leave for participation in the rehab program, and his return to work will be made by the Webster Parish Police Jury, on an individual basis. The employee will be responsible for anything beyond what the insurance does not pay.
