§ 2-26.1. Sick leave policy.
The sick leave policy for parish employees shall be as follows:
(1)
Sick leave days allocated to all police jury employees shall be calculated from the anniversary date of employment and twelve (12) days per year or one day per month shall be allowed each year, said leave to be accumulative with no limit set on the number of days an employee may accumulate.
(2)
An employee may be absent from work for one day due to illness sustained by himself or a member of his or her immediate family without submitting a statement from the attending physician.
(3)
If an employee is absent from work due to illness sustained by himself or herself or a member of his or her immediate family for two (2) or more consecutive days, a statement from the attending physician must be submitted before payment for sick leave will be made.
(4)
If sick leave benefits are abused, the first offense shall be suspension for one week without pay. The second offense employee shall be terminated.
