§ 20-21. Definitions.

  • For the purposes of this article the following definitions shall apply:

    Community-type sewerage system shall apply to any system, either publicly or privately owned, usually consisting of a collection system, pumping facility and a means of final treatment and disposal, and which utilizes sewerage system technology for sewerage systems as prescribed by the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals, approved to served two (2) or more building sites.

    Individual sewerage system shall apply to any system of piping (excluding building plumbing), treatment device or other facility that conveys, stores, treats, or disposes of sewerage on the property where it originates, and which utilizes the individual sewerage technologies prescribed by the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals.

    Secondary treatment shall apply to approved methods of disposal of effluent from septic tank, vault, or etc.

    Septic tank system means an individual sewerage system which consists of a septic tank followed by an approved method of septic tank effluent treatment or disposal. A conventional septic tank system is a septic tank followed by a subsurface absorption field.

    Sewerage system shall mean any or all the various components, including piping and plumbing and treatment facilities, comprising a system, community-type or individual, designed for the collection and/or treatment and/or disposal of sewerage.

    Subsurface disposal lines shall apply to the method of disposition of the sewerage effluent by underground absorption.
