§ 13-3. Gambling.

  • (a)

    Prohibited. It shall be unlawful to commit the crime of gambling in Webster Parish, Louisiana.

    (b)

    Defined. "Gambling" [as used in this section] is hereby defined as follows: Gambling with cards or any card game by whatsoever name said card game may be called or known, at which money, or anything representing money, or any article of value shall be pledged, bet or hazarded.

    (c)

    The provisions of this [section] shall not apply to any private game played in a private home occupied by a family of such, or game in private clubs, conducted without a gain or profit directly or indirectly by the owner of such establishment.

    (d)

    If any such gambling games as defined herein are conducted in a public place and with the knowledge of the managers or operators of such public establishments, it shall be conclusive proof that such games are conducted as a business by the said operators or managers of the said commercial establishments and shall be a violation of this [section].

    (e)

    Any person, firm or corporation found guilty of violating the provisions of this [section] shall upon conviction thereof be fined not more than five hundred dollars ($500.00), or imprisoned for not more than six (6) months or both, at the discretion of the court.

    (f)

    This [section] shall not be applicable to municipal corporations located within Webster Parish, Louisiana.
