This article, titled the Groundwater Protection Ordinance, establishes a drinking
water protection critical area around each water well serving an active public water
system.
No hazardous materials should be present in the drinking water protection critical
area that may cause or significantly contribute to a present or potential risk to
human health, safety, or welfare of groundwater resource, or the natural environment.
The underlying purpose and intent of this article is to safeguard the health, safety,
and lives of the public by protecting groundwater from contamination.
