§ 13-2. Operation of jukeboxes, electric phonographs, etc., restricted.

  • (a)

    It shall be unlawful for any person.to operate or permit the operation of any mechanical musical machine, jukebox, electric phonograph, musical instruments or other machine or device for the producing or reproducing of sound in such manner as to disturb the peace, quiet and comfort of the neighboring inhabitants or at any time with louder volume than is necessary for convenient hearing for the person or persons who are in the room, vehicle, or chamber in which such machine or device is operated and who are voluntary listeners thereto between the hours of 12:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. in Webster Parish, Louisiana.

    (b)

    The operation or permitting the operation of any machines described in the previous [paragraph] in such manner as to be plainly audible at a distance of fifty (50) feet from the building, structure or vehicle in which it is located shall be prima facie evidence of a violation of this section.

    (c)

    Any person violating the provisions of this [section] shall be deemed to have committed a misdemeanor and may be fined for such conduct in an amount not to exceed one hundred dollars ($100.00) and/or imprisoned in the parish jail for a period not to exceed thirty (30) days.
